Know Better, Do Better

I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection  (Philippians 3:10 NIV)

We can easily get caught up in the day-to-day activities that so often command much, if not all, of our time.  The reality however is that the more we neglect quality time with Christ, the more powerless we become.  The apostle Paul said he wanted to know Christ, and by knowing Christ he could experience the power of His resurrection.  So the more we spend time in prayer – the less our activities, duties and responsibilities rule our lives – and the more they all fall into proper perspective.  The urgent doesn’t seem so urgent.  The important is appropriately addressed.  All this starts with a decision to get to know instead of simply doing.

Jesus understood the importance of prayer.  He understood before doing anything, it was important to consult God, the Father.   John 5:19 let us know that Jesus did nothing apart from God – “… whatever the Father does the Son also does” (NIV).  How can we know what God does, if we don’t take the time to get to know Him?

Today let us make prayer a priority. Let us cast our cares on God like 1 Peter 5:7 tells us, and in doing so our minds will become clearer and all our activities will then become manageable.
